Congratulations! You are building a team in your home business. Now What?

At some point in your business, you will realize that not everyone who has joined your team, is just like you. Usually, we all have our very own reasons to join a business. But, how do you build your team? If you want to grow so that you all can benefit from your business, I certainly hope these tips will help you.

These types of tips are what helped me build teams into the 1000’s and become the number 1 recruiter in my previous company.

If you’ve even been frustrated with the lack of growth in your team, this one’s is for you.

The Top 3 Tips for Team Building in Network Marketing and Direct Sales.

What to do first. Listen in as I share the Best thing you will ever learn about your Team.

 
Let’s recap first.

Find out what they want.

This is truly the ONLY way you can really help them. If they joined your company because they wanted to earn a trip for their family to Europe (like I did this past year in my company), show them how to win the trips. If they want to walk the stage because they rank advanced, show them and focus on, their rank advancements. There is no point whatsoever, in showing those the rank advancements if all they want to do is win a trip. Unless, of course, your company’s trip qualification require that. But the bottom line is that in order to help them the best-and-get them off to a good start is to find out what they want from joining you. A few things to remember:

  • Use whatever is at your disposal to get to know them, in this relationship. A team relationship is very different from a family relationship so if your aunt has joined you, you must get to know her business side. Even if you already know she is the greatest auntie Ever! Business is different. Ask her the same questions you ask all of your new team members.
  • What is their Trigger? Recognition? Rank advancement? Trip Qualifying? Money-and is it full time or part time income they want to earn? ASK them?
  • Build a community around your team. Help them feel like they are a part of something wonderful and that they, and their particular talents, can contribute in a way that is good for all.

This should be included as part of your get acquainted call or meeting, which happens right after they join. Set up a time to chat just as soon as they complete their application. I like to use a new teammate checklist and include the questions so that they can think about things before we meet.

Here are some additional tips I think you will find helpful.

  • A great question to ask is this? Are you coachable? Their answer to this will tell you right away what tool to share with them next. I have a funny story. Once, in my closed Facebook group for my team, I pinned a post of what to do when you first start. At the very bottom of that post I said “contact me for your getting started interview after you complete these Steps.” I was amazed at how many people DID NOT read it to the very end. What I learned from that is that not only is it a bad place to put it, but, some people NEED specific direction as to what to do and others can just jump right in. If you ask this question, to start, you can avoid this particular frustration.
  • Inspire them into action. you cannot and will not be able to motivate your team. You simply cannot. You must inspire them by being a leader who is following the system, doing what you are asking them to do and that is how they will be motivated. When they are inspired by your actions.
  • Team training tools. Have them readily available so that anyone, anywhere has access to them. By doing this, you are teaching them a few great things. One, you don’t have all the answers and two, you know where to point them. This is a remarkable gift you are giving them (and you have as well. Imagine if every phone call turned into a 30 minute call instead of sharing the training tool with them).
  • Give the limelight to those on your team who have earned it. If someone else is really GREAT at closing, invite them to share in the team calls. It is amazing what this does for them, and for the rest of the team as they strive to be invited to host the weekly team call.
  • Make personal development a top priority in YOU. When you invest in yourself, you are more able to help your team. Look for those that have what you want and hire them to help you get the same thing. Hiring a personal coach or mentor is the fastest way to get you where you want to go, so that you can help your team get there too.

As an Entrepreneur, one of the best ways to reach your goals (whatever they may be) is to have a great daily routine.

But, there’s so much to do, how can you manage to get everything done that you need to get done?

As a bonus today, I’m going to list for you, my daily routine that has helped me tremendously not only get everything done but helps me focus on the activities that I NEED for success. I hope it does the same for you.

  2. Exercise. Studies show that exercise has many benefits and certainly, it can help you in your work day. For more information on this: https://www.diannagoodsky.com/Exercise
  3. Personal Development. This could be a book, a podcast, or maybe a course on mindset. Basically anything that feeds your brain. It is a reality that what you put inside your head, drives who you become. That is powerful and should be remembered, ALL THE TIME.
  4. Review your goals. A quick scan of your long term goals will do wonders for reminding you what you are doing this for and will result in you taking the action towards those goals. Reviewing the Day’s goals will set you up for success y knowing that you can do it. I recommend you do this nightly as well, look over the next day’s goals.
  5. Get to the Tasks on hand for the day. Celebrate each win!
  6. Schedule time for family and friends. Block this time out first.
  7. If using Digital Media to promote yourself or your business, consider having a set time, daily to accomplish these goals. Consider a Blog, Periscope (Grab my free guide top right of page), Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram. Are you new to this part? then pick one and learn, then master that one, before adding the next one. I’ve mastered Facebook and Periscope and am now adding Blab (live stream is the hot ticket)to my online efforts.

At the end of the day, regardless of what may have gotten in the way of your daily routine, what matters most is that you have one and eventually, you will be better able to get it done AND compress the amount of time it takes to get it done.

Why Do People Leave Network Marketing and The Industry?

 

Why do people leave network marketing? Well, It happens all the time. Someone joins a company. They are all fired up and tell you that “THIS IS IT” The One they have been looking for!

OR…I cannot wait to be a Diamond!

OR…This is the best thing I’ve ever done!

And then, the next thing you know, they are posting a DIFFERENT company on their Facebook wall. Have you ever seen that? What happens to them? Have you ever done this?

Well, I can tell you one thing! It’s NOT about the Company, It’s NOT about the Products, it is all to do with the person them self. Listen to my video to find out why…

 

 

People leave the network marketing industry ALL the time because they simply do NOT know EXACTLY what to do! Period.

I’d like to share some things that will help you help them…Stay. This is not just Network Marketing for beginners, it is for anyone who may struggle with this. Because frankly, it does not matter how long you’ve been doing this, it happens.

One of the best tips I have for that is to make sure you use all of your company or team tools to help them get introduced to the company, the product and your team. Whether a person is new, or has done this before, getting introduced to the tools that your team has and actually doing the steps will help them succeed (and therefore stay). If your company does not have this tool, make one yourself. It is a critical piece to having a successful network marketing career. Let them know to contact you for an appointment at a specific point in this process.

Once they complete the first few steps, they will have called you to set up an appointment. Use this time to reaffirm and congratulate them on their decision, see where they are in their progress and to see how they are doing with the overall action plan. This is also an excellent time to talk about their expectations.

 

Why Do People Leave Network Marketing? – You Have False Expectations?

 

Expectations about exactly what do they want from this business and what are they willing to give up in order to get that. If the expectations are out of whack (I want to earn $10000 in my first 30 days, working 2 hours a week), this provides an excellent opportunity for you to help them get more realistic and provides a great mental boost to what they actually can accomplish. It is also a great time to establish your mentorship relationship, one that they will learn from you. This is an integral piece of what makes Network Marketing work: the ability to mentor and train so that your mentees can do the same with their team. It’s magical when everyone does this. And the community it builds! Wow!

So plan on spending at least 30 days with them (NOT constantly but very much available) as they begin their journey and you will be amazed at your retention rate because the number of people who STAY in the business will increase. Are you willing to do that? Are you able to do that? This is really about long-term relationship building. It’s not about just bringing people into the business and just moving on. It’s about working with your team and helping them to develop relationships while training and guiding them to their success, so that they can build their team-and their business.

The internet has made it possible for anyone who wants to build their business never talking to their friends and family. That is powerful and this is where the power of marketing comes into play.
